Australian Awards for University Teaching

Closing Date: Friday 15 June 2012, 5pm (AEST).

The Australian Awards for University Teaching are designed to recognise quality teaching practice and outstanding contributions to student learning. It is intended that recipients, with the support of their institutions, will contribute to systemic change in learning and teaching through ongoing knowledge sharing and dissemination, for example, presentations within the learning and teaching community, collegial mentoring, pairing and networking, and involvement in university and higher education committees.

Awards and Nominations Categories (open to the teaching staff of Australian universities.

  • Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning (Up to 160 Citations, valued at $10000 for the prize)
  • Awards for Programs that Enhance Learning (12 Awards with a prize value of $25,000)
  • Awards for Teaching Excellence (16 Awards each with a value of $25,000)
  • Prime Minister’s Award for Australian University Teacher of the Year (The award has a value of $50,000)

 

More information is available at the Office of Learning and Teaching (the spiritual and bureaucratic successor to the ALTC).  Given the competition for the awards, marketing academics are reminded to collaborate closely with your University’s teaching and learning division – terms of entry to the awards includes nomination by the institution, so start building the portfolios, and getting the support base early.
